One of the many benefits of v-Library is the ability of our users to write and develop their own reports for v-Library. To assist users wanting to go down this path in this area we provide the features:-

1. The v-Library database is totally open and fully accessible.

2. Users can use ANY reporting tool that can access a Microsoft SQL 2005 database.

3. All our reports are written in Crystal Reports 2008 and we provide the COMPLETE SOURCE CODE to ALL reports to enable users to copy ANY report and then tailor it to their specific requirements OR use an existing report as the foundation for a totally different report.

We also do take report request from our wider user base with the following caveat;

a. All report request MUST in our opinion enhance the product and meet the requirements of 70% of our users. We do not and cannot provide individual very specific once off reports as this can very easily be accommodated with the options above in 1,2,and 3.

b. All report requests MUST comply with the following criteria:-

i. You must specify data selection criteria. This can have as many selection criteria but must have a minimum of one criterion e.g. :-

a. FROM Media _____________ TO Media______________

b. From Call Number______________ To Call Number______________

c. From Location __________________ To Location ________________

ii. You MUST ALSO specify a SORT sequence for the report:-

a. Sort BY ______________

b. Then sort by ____________

c. Then sort by ____________ etc.

iii. You MUST then identify columns of information starting with the first column and the size of each column in number of characters eg:

a. First column Call number, 10 characters.

b. Second column Title, 80 characters.

c. Third column Barcode, 13 characters.

d. Fourth column Replacement cost, 8 characters.

e. Etc.

ALL report request will be reviewed maximum monthly and if it meets the criteria that it will enhance the product and meet 70% of user requirements it will then be scheduled into a future upgrade.
