Dear Customer

v-Library version September 2011 is packed with incredible Digital Delivery, Multimedia Streaming and Federated Search functions and features.

We would love your site to avail themselves of all these exciting next generation functions and features and turn your Library into a truly global ‘Resource Centre’ for physical and digital resources.

We would also recommend that you to encourage your IT, Curriculum, general staff and all students to use almost ANY browser based device to access these resources from a device of their choosing.

Don’t forget you also have the option to download unlimited TV and Foxtel content FREE of all advertisements and have it delivered via your Library OPAC from any browser based devices.

You must have the right server environment if you envisage changing the culture of your staff and users from viewing the library as just a place you go for physical resources. To operate as a “Resource Centre” where your staff and users can access rich Multimedia, Global content, Curriculum as well as reserve physical resources, the platform, software, hardware and operating system needs to be right from day one. Comprise in any of these areas will comprise the library, it's staff, professionalism and the services they provides

If you are considering taking on the latest FREE upgrade to v-Library September 2011, our preferred and your minimum optimum server hardware should be as follows:-

Server or PC with i5 Processor.

Windows 2008 Server R2 64 bit.

8 GB of memory for ONE database.

2 GB for every additional database for sites that have more than one library database.

50GB of free Hard disk for ONE database and 10GB for every additional database.

Maximum 6 databases per this server specification.

If your organisation cannot run Windows 2008 Server R2 64 bit, this is a minimum alternative BUT we cannot be responsible for any performance issues.

Server or PC with i5 Processor.

Windows 2003 Server.

4 GB of memory for ONE database.

A second database can be installed BUT we do not recommend it for performance reasons.

50 GB of free Hard disk for ONE database and 10 GB  for the additional database.

Maximum 2 databases for each server that meets these specifications.

I want to assure you if you choose our preferred operating environment you and your user base will enjoy an amazing experience converting your library to a true “Global Digital Resource Centre”

I wish you well and we stand by to give you every assistance as you take on this FREE upgrade with our compliments.

Sincerely,
