INSTALLATION / UPGRADE PRE-REQUISITE QUESTIONNAIRE.
Thank you for considering the upgrade to v-Library.
v-Library is a sophisticated web based Library management system. Unlike e-Library where the processing of information was shared between your workstation and the backend server; in v-Library ALL the processing is done on the back end server for all functions.
The advantage of this environment is unlike e-Library where every time you upgraded or had issues we had to check the workstations AND the server, now you only ever have to check one machine; the server.
It is very important to get the server environment right. If the server environment is right at the start it will definitely save you and your site a lot of frustration if things hiccup down the track as IT related issues seem to do at the most inopportune time.
We will be very happy to assist you to upgrade your e-Library software to v-Library Please DO NOT start your installation or upgrade until you have filled in this form and sent it to Functional Solutions.
On receipt of this form our helpdesk will review the environment and send you authorised instructions for your particular installation or upgrade.
Please do not use instructions provided to you by any one else other than our helpdesk and for your particular upgrade and make sure these instructions were received no more than 30 days ago. We are constantly upgrading v-Library and we would like to make sure you have the latest instructions and the latest version.
PLEASE TAKE 10 MINUTES OF YOUR TIME TO ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING:
1. Please ensure you follow only the instructions Functional Solutions forwards you on installing v-Library software for your particular site and received within the last 30 days. These instructions will be customised specifically for your hardware environment.
2. So that we can customise the setup instructions for your site’s environment, please answer all the below questions and attach your completed Hardware Inspection form and Print Screens and

3. Are you installing v-Library on newly installed server?

5. What is your current version of e-Library software (you can check this on the main menu of e-library by looking at the bottom of the screen there should be a dd/mm/yyyy of e-library).

6. Are you going to install v-Library on a dedicated server?

7. We can REBOOT this server ANY NUMBER of TIMES during the installation process without seeking permission from ANY IT staff at your site?

8. This server can be REFORMATTED if in the event that the environment is corrupted and your IT staff can reinstall the Operating system?

9. What is the Library Server Operating System? (e.g. Windows 2003 server 32 Bit or Windows 2008 Server 64 Bit)

10. The Library Catalogue machines – what version of Windows are they running (as we need to RETAIN and possibly upgrade the e-Library client)?

12. How many databases does your school have on the ONE LIBRARY server?

Typically all v-Library installations/upgrades take approximately 2 hours to complete. On receipt of the above information Functional Solutions will e-mail you your site specific upgrade instructions.
Note: If you have multiple e-library databases you will need to allow about 1 hour for each additional database installation or upgrade.
