Creating an v-Library remote circulation file 

 

1.     From the Windows main screen, click on the ‘Start’ button 

  

2.     Move your cursor up to ‘Programs’ 

3.     Move across to ‘Accessories’ 

4       Click on the option that says ‘Notepad’ 

5.     An untitled notepad screen will then appear. 

6.     It is in this screen that you will be recording your circulation details. 

7.     To check an item out, type ‘$O’ (That’s the letter o. Not the number 0) and hit enter.  

8.     On the next line enter the patron’s barcode and hit enter. Then on the next lines enter all the barcodes you wish to circulate out to them.

For example, once you are finished it might look something like this.

9.     To circulate an item in, type ‘$I’ and hit enter (That’s the letter i. Not the number 1).

10.  On the next lines enter all the barcodes you wish to circulate in.

For example, once you are finished it might look something like this.

11.  Once you are finished. Select your security location to save (such as Expansion Drive, Local Disk or Network Drive). 

12.  Click on the ‘File’ menu option

13.  Click on ‘Save As’

14.  In the ‘Save In’ drop down box, select ‘Expansion Drive’

 

 

15.  In the ‘File Name’ box, type ‘Barcode’

16.  Click on the ‘Save’ button.
