Now that you have upgraded or contemplating the v-Library upgrade, there are important things:-

  1. you need to know!
  2. You need to do!

Please read this document and follow the easy initial steps to setup and enjoy the power, flexibility and functionality of v-Library.

Congratulations for choosing or considering the e-Library to v-Library upgrade provided to your educational institution FREE of any license or purchase cost with our compliments.

When your upgrade is completed successfully you need to be able to have full understanding of all the products wonderful new features and functions.

v-Library is a substantial upgrade path from e-Library. It is our hope that you will enjoy this upgrade and realise the many options, features and functions that it provides for your institution and its patrons.

Any new software to be appreciated and used to its full capacity does require some fundamental understandings and basic training. We realise that time constraints, pressures of your current workload and limited budgets might preclude you from having a one on one professional development training on site with one of our supportive helpdesk staff.

We don’t want you to feel disadvantage or worse still add to your current work load by having to learn a “new” product. We have put together a few points to help you become proficient quickly with this new upgrade.

If you contacted our help desk and because of your busy schedule were not able to complete, follow our instructions or simply just got confused; do not feel embarrassed to contact us again. Please call as often as you feel necessary so we can help you through your issue. Remember it is a helpdesk; our purpose for existence is to help you get the best out of our software and services.

  1. So you have upgraded to v-Library! Did you know you can still use e-Library? That’s right e-Library works concurrently with v-Library. We made a deliberate effort to keep as many of the features and functions of e-Library alive and current with v-Library. In this transitional period of moving from e-Library to v-Library please feel free to revert to e-Library if you feel more comfortable doing things in e-Library. We will continue to support BOTH e-Library and v-Library well into the future.
  2. One very important fundamental difference you should be aware of between e-Library and v-Library is the way data is updated.
  3. In e-Library you move from field to field or record to record or function to function without ever having to hit the SAVE button as all information is always automatically updated. That’s the advantage of fat client technology – we can program this type of functionality.
  4. v-Library is a web based technology. You MUST hit either the INSERT button if you are ADDING a NEW record or the UPDATE button if you are CHANGING a record. In short, NOTHING gets saved UN LESS you hit INSERT or UPDATE.

Mandatory Setup Options:

  1. As a first time user of v-Library there are some mandatory system setup functions you must perform. Please take the time to complete these task, they should not take more than 60 minutes:-
    1. Setup Copy Defaults (Media Type Defaults).
    2. Setup Location Defaults.
    3. Setup SubLocation Defaults.

 

  1. To setup these defaults you have to:-
    1. Login to v-Library with “lib”
    2. Got to “Global Change”
    3. Go to each one of the defaults talked about above starting with “Copy Default”

 

  1. You MUST setup an entry for:-
    1. EVERY Media type in Copy Default.
    2. EVERY Location in Location Default.
    3. EVERY Sub Location in Sub Location Default.

 

If you follow and complete these simple steps we know you will be well on your way to enjoy the power and features of v-Library.

  4. A nominal charge for on site training:
    1. Onsite 1 to 1 Training Session at your site. We can organise a two hour session at your site to go through the upgrade from start to finish. The cost to you is a flat $175 + GST. This option is great if you have new library staffs that need to be trained, if you want to cover many specific items at your school alone, or if you simply prefer to have the freedom of having one of our staff on site to address your issues.
