Newcomb
Secondary College has been with Functional
Solutions from the very beginning (1996). We chose
FILMS because it was a truly integrated system, which
allowed us to make the most effective use of our
library resources. Computers were no longer dedicated
book catalogues, but multi-task workstations whose
function was limited only by our needs!
We have stayed with FILMS because the backup and
support provided by the company is second to none.
The Help Desk staff is approachable, very knowledgeable
about the product, and deliver on their promises.
Their willingness to respond to the needs of their
clients is a feature of their service which other
companies would do well to emulate!".

" As a principal of
a school my knowledge of library systems,
I must confess is neither broad nor deep. However,
when I see a succession of teacher librarians getting
excited over some software, I figure it has to be
good. We have staff and students from two schools
sharing our library resource center.". "The
move to FILMS has been relatively painless and quick,
and any little glitches have been dealt with quickly
by the FILMS people.
On balance, comparing Apples with Apples and value
for money, I would recommend FILMS to other schools."

"There are a number
of reasons why we selected FILMS as our library
OPAC. We had been operating Ocelot. This system was
becoming defunct and we were increasingly encountering
maintenance problems.
• FILMS was Windows NT compatible which suited
our network and proposed technology plans.
• The interface was considered the most user
friendly of all the systems we investigated.
• Initial outlay cost for FILMS was low compared
with other systems.
• Annual maintenance costs were not considered
prohibitive.
• FILMS was considered up to date in that it
had enhanced features that allowed us to catalogue
Internet sites etc.
Since changing to FILMS we have found the maintenance
staff both friendly and highly supportive.
• Service queries are answered promptly.
• Staff is knowledgeable about the system,
friendly and courteous.
• Service staff has responded to our needs,
offering additional enhancements to our system where
requested and incorporating changes into updated
versions. Internet downloads,
• E-mail access and online support are excellent.

"I am particularly impressed with the ways in
which your staff handle our problems and suggestions
for improvements to future updates".

"When choosing a library
automation program to replace the PICK system we
selected FILMS for the following reasons:
1. Suitability for a networking environment
using Windows.
2. The total cost including data conversion, installation,
training and support was suited to our budget requirements.
3. The potential for increased Internet usage via
storage of Internet addresses as part of Catalogue
records for direct access by user.
4. Excellent security.
5. Very little "housekeeping" requirements.
6. Cataloguing and Circulation features offered similar
but even better functions than we already had.
7. The good support offered by phone, fax and email.
8. The ability to have the program "tailor made"
to suit the needs of a particular site and also being
able to access and download upgrades via the Internet.
We have found FILMS fulfills and exceed our expectations
and the level of support on terms of time, friendliness
and expertise offered has been excellent.
